Payouts & Fees Policy
Last Updated: 05/27/2026
This Payouts & Fees Policy explains how sellers receive funds for completed transactions on Second Catch and how platform fees are applied. Second Catch uses Stripe to securely process payments and seller payouts.
Marketplace Role
Second Catch operates as a peer-to-peer marketplace. Second Catch does not own or sell items listed on the platform. Payments are collected from buyers and held securely until the transaction is completed.
Seller Fees
Second Catch charges a 10% platform fee on the final sale price of each item. The 10% platform fee applies only to the item’s sale price and is not applied to shipping costs charged to the buyer. Additionally, Stripe, our payment processor, charges a 2.9% + $0.30 processing fee per transaction. Both fees are automatically deducted from the transaction proceeds — Second Catch does not mark up or profit from Stripe’s processing fee.
The Second Catch platform fee covers:
- Platform operations
- Buyer protection and dispute handling
- Marketplace maintenance and support
The seller receives the net payout after both fees are deducted.
Payment Processing
All payments are processed through Stripe. Sellers must connect a valid Stripe account to receive payouts. Second Catch does not store banking or card information.
Payouts
Once a transaction settles through Stripe, funds are transferred directly to the seller’s connected Stripe account. Second Catch does not hold or delay funds beyond Stripe’s standard settlement process. The time it takes for funds to reach the seller’s bank depends on Stripe account status and the seller’s bank, and Second Catch does not control bank processing speeds. Stripe may independently hold, reserve, or delay funds based on its own risk, compliance, or verification policies. These holds are managed by Stripe, not Second Catch.
Failed or Delayed Payouts
Payouts may be delayed or rejected if Stripe account information is incomplete or incorrect, identity verification is required by Stripe, the seller’s bank rejects the transfer, or fraud prevention or compliance checks are triggered. Sellers are responsible for maintaining accurate payout information.
Taxes & Reporting
Sellers are solely responsible for reporting income earned on Second Catch and paying any applicable taxes. Stripe may issue tax forms (such as a 1099-K) where legally required. Second Catch does not provide tax advice.
Cancellations Before Shipment
If a transaction is cancelled before the seller ships the item, the buyer receives a full refund and no platform fee is collected.
Refunds & Fee Treatment
If a buyer opens a dispute and it is resolved in their favor, funds will be debited from the seller’s connected Stripe account to refund the buyer. The seller does not receive a payout for that transaction and no platform fee is collected. The buyer’s payment is refunded in full, or as required by law. If the seller’s Stripe balance is insufficient, Stripe may recover the amount from future payouts or by debiting the seller’s linked bank account. If Stripe is unable to recover the full amount, the seller remains liable to Second Catch for the outstanding deficit. If a seller voluntarily issues a refund to a buyer outside of the dispute process, the 10% Second Catch platform fee is refunded to the seller. Stripe’s processing fee may or may not be refundable depending on Stripe’s current policies.
Platform Discretion
Second Catch reserves the right to delay or withhold payouts in cases of suspected fraud or misuse, require additional verification, suspend payouts for policy violations, and adjust payout schedules as required by Stripe or applicable law.
Policy Updates
Second Catch may update this Payouts & Fees Policy at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting to the website.
